LoRa is a Wireless Technology developed by Semtech Corporation. Its compelling advantages are high range operating ranges with low transmission power, so that battery-powered end-devices can be operated independently over a long period of time without battery change or charging.
Because of the "spread spectrum technology" being used by LoRa, it is possible to use different virtual channels at the same time, while the transmissions are not interfering with each other. Data rates, carrier frequencies and transmission power of the end-devices can be set individually.
Due to its high immunity to interference and excellent penetration, this technique is also well suited for use within buildings in deep-indoor environments (for instance in reinforced concrete constructions).
